Team, roles & permissions
Manage users and roles from one page; roles are permission sets, and access scope plus client assignment control which projects a user can see.
Team and role management live together, reached from the Account Settings menu (the avatar in the top bar).
Roles
A role is a named set of permissions. RankOut ships built-in roles — Owner, Admin, and Client Viewer — and you can create your own. Permissions are grouped: viewing each data source, managing clients, managing strategy / implementation / keyword research / content / visibility / memory, viewing and signing off reports, viewing the audit log, and managing users and roles.
| Role kind | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Admin-like | Agency staff — full operational access across assigned projects. |
| Sales-like | Prospecting and acquisition; no project delivery access. |
| Client-like | The read-only client portal for one project. |
Access scope and client assignment
- Access scope: All
- The user can see every project in the agency.
- Client assignment
- For staff without All scope, the specific projects they're assigned to — they see only those.
- Client-like users
- Always scoped to exactly one project — their own portal.
