SaaS / SEO strategy

SEO for SaaS and software companies

SaaS SEO should prioritize commercial-intent pages (features, pricing, comparisons) and technical health over broad top-of-funnel content, because software buyers research comparatively before they buy. Product-led content that answers real evaluation questions converts better than generic educational posts competing with everyone else's blog.

Software buyers research comparatively

Someone evaluating software rarely buys off one page. They read a pricing page, a comparison, a handful of reviews, and a feature breakdown before deciding. That means pages built to be found and to answer those specific evaluation questions carry more weight than a general blog trying to rank for broad, competitive terms.

Prioritize commercial-intent pages first

Before investing heavily in top-of-funnel content, get the buying-stage pages right:

  • A pricing page with real numbers, not "contact us," since buyers actively search for pricing before reaching out
  • Comparison pages that answer "X vs Y" honestly, since these are exactly what buyers search and what AI assistants get asked
  • Feature pages that answer a specific job-to-be-done, not just list capabilities
  • Integration pages for each tool you connect with, since "[your product] + [tool] integration" is real, specific search volume

Technical health matters more for SaaS than it looks

A marketing site for a software product is often smaller than an e-commerce catalog, which makes it easy to assume technical SEO doesn't matter much at that scale. It still does: a slow pricing page or broken schema on a comparison page directly costs conversions from exactly the highest-intent visitors you're getting.

Don't skip AI search for a technical audience

Buyers evaluating software are a demographic that already asks ChatGPT and Perplexity comparison questions directly. Being the source those assistants cite for "best [category] for [use case]" is a real, growing channel for exactly this kind of buyer, not a hypothetical one.
