AI search visibility checklist
An AI search visibility checklist covers six areas: crawler access, server-rendered HTML, entity consistency, schema coverage, question-shaped content, and prompt-level citation tracking. Work them in that order, because content cannot fix a page an AI crawler is not allowed to fetch.

Access
Confirm each item against the live site, not against staging.
- robots.txt allows the AI agents you want to be cited by
- No blanket Disallow rules left over from a staging build
- Sitemap is current and linked from robots.txt once a domain is live
- No login wall or bot challenge in front of public content
Rendering and speed
Retrieval favours pages that return complete content quickly.
- Main content present in the initial HTML response
- Core Web Vitals in the green on mobile
- Canonical tags correct and self-referencing
- No soft 404s or redirect chains on important pages
Meaning
This is where most sites lose citations.
- One consistent business name, description and service list everywhere
- Organization, Service, Article, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList schema in place
- Each target question has its own page or clearly bounded section
- Answers stated in the first 60 words, with the proof underneath
Measurement
Pick 20 to 40 prompts a real buyer would ask, run them monthly across the major assistants, and record citations. Without this you are guessing.
